OD-DP: 2021 – Applied Health
The sequence given in the “Key” below is the order you should take your courses in. Each line of the key corresponds to a section in the article below and its requirements. Contact your Peer Mentor for any questions or concerns on course sequencing.

ACTION ITEMS will need to be completed at key moments along your degree path.
NOTE: Ensign College began a partnership with BYU-Pathway Worldwide beginning with the Fall Semester of 2021. Starting that semester, students could choose the Medical Billing and Coding Fundamentals Certificate to count as their C1 in the Applied Health Degree. This means that their C2 and C3 would be chosen for them since they would be required certificates to fulfill that degree. 

Associate Degree Requirements
All C1 courses must be completed before any other courses can be taken.
NOTE: If you have not completed PC 103 or GS 120 through PathwayConnect, you will need to complete the course GE 103 – Online University Skills.

C1 – Certificate 1
BYU-Idaho Certificates:
  • Community Health Planning and Implementation
Ensign College Certificates (Fall Semester 2021 and forward):
  • Medical Billing and Coding Fundamentals
ACTION ITEM
  • In the last semester of your C1, you will need to apply for graduation.
  • During your last semester of C1 courses, if an Ensign College certificate was completed for C1, start the transfer request to move enrollment from Ensign College to BYU-Idaho.
After completing C1, AG and AR courses can be taken along with C2 courses. The Degree Planner will plan these courses appropriately.


C2 – Certificate 2


If you chose Community Health Planning and Implementation as your C1, your option will be:
  • Community Health Methods and Evaluation: The Community Health Planning and Implementation certificate will need to be completed first.

If you chose Medical Billing and Coding Fundamentals as your C1, your option will be:
  • Community Health Planning and Implementation
 
ACTION ITEM
In the last semester of your C2, you will need to apply for graduation.

AR – Associate Religion
  • 2 cornerstone religion courses and 2 additional religion courses.
AG – Associate Generals
Program required core courses:
  • Math 108X: Math for the Real World
  • ENG 150: Writing and Reasoning Foundations (no longer available after Spring 2024) OR WRIT 101: Writing in Professional Context Context (starting in Block 2 Spring 2024)
    • WRIT 101 will be replacing ENG 150. If you have already fulfilled this requirement with ENG 150, you would not need to take WRIT 101.
  • BUS 301: Advanced Writing in Professional Contexts
    • ENG 301 was no longer offered after the Fall 2023 semester. If you have already fulfilled this requirement with ENG 301, you would not need to take BUS 301.
  • GE 103: Online University Skills (Fulfilled by PC 103, GE 103, or GS 120 taken during PathwayConnect)

  • In the last semester of your associate degree, you will need to apply for graduation.

Associate Degree Complete
 
 
Bachelor’s Degree Requirements 
The bachelor’s degree requirements include completion of the associate degree requirements listed above. Prior to taking any of the courses listed in the bachelor’s degree requirements, you will need to complete all associate degree requirements.
 
C3 – Certificate 3
If you chose Community Health Planning and Implementation as your C1, your option would be:
  • Epidemiology: The Community Health Methods and Evaluation certificate will need to be completed first.
  • Human Services: The Community Health Methods and Evaluation certificate will need to be completed first.
  • Occupational Safety and Health: The Community Health Methods and Evaluation certificate will need to be completed first.

If you chose Medical Billing and Coding Fundamentals as your C1, your option would be:
  • Community Health Methods and Evaluation: The Community Health Planning and Implementation certificate will need to be completed first.
ACTION ITEM
In the last semester of your C3, you will need to apply for graduation.

I – Internship   
  • PUBH 399 – Applied Health Capstone
 
NOTE: Internship Waiver requests are no longer processed by BYU-Pathway Worldwide. All Applied Health students must complete the PUBH 399 – Applied Health Capstone project to fulfill the internship requirement.
If you previously completed PUBH 498 OR PUBH 499R as an internship, it will count as credit for the internship requirement and you will not need to take PUBH 399.

BR – Bachelor Religion  
  • 2 cornerstone courses and 1 additional course
 
BG – Bachelor Generals  
Students will no longer take the breadth course options that may be listed in their Degree Audit and will instead take the Leadership and Self Reliance Module courses listed below:
  • Arts & Humanities – 1 course
    • HUM 110 – Discover/Discern Through Arts
  • Natural Science – 2 courses
    • PUBH 132 – Personal Health & Wellness
    • GESCI 110 – Sustaining Human Life
  • Social Science – 2 courses
    • FCS 160 – Home & Family Resource Management
    • PEACE 101 – Conflict and Peace

 NOTE: If you have previously taken the old/discontinued breadth courses and your Degree Audit has those requirements fulfilled, you will not need to take the module courses for those already filled sections.

E – Elective Courses
  • Degree Planner will plan the required number of elective courses to finish your upper division credit hour requirement (15 residency credit hours) and the minimum credit hour requirement for a bachelor’s degree (120 credit hours).
 
ACTION ITEM
In the last semester of your bachelor's degree, you will need to review your degree audit to make sure you have met all requirements for graduation.
  • If all requirements have been met and your account has no holds, you will need to apply for graduation.
